Formerly Aster glaucodes. Also called Gray aster. Drought tolerant, rhizomatous native perennial forb to subshrub with numerous pale lavender flowers, blooming July to October. Colonizes openings of arid salt desert shrub, sagebrush and woodland communities; 2,000 to 11,000 ft. elevation.
