leymus salinus (saline wildrye)

Tall cool season, densely tufted, native bunchgrass occasionally with short rhizomes. Adapted to upland rangelands and some semidesert and mountain sites, sometimes as a dominant species. Moderately tolerant of alkaline environments. High forage producer, but unpalatable after early spring. Good soil stabilizer.
